Since you don't mention feed rates or arbor speeds I will just tell you my experience. We used a 14", 16 tooth, .083 plate with 30thou. side clearance. We ended up using a 14", 10 tooth saw with the same saw plate & side clearance. We were wanting to run at a feed speed of 60 - 80 feet per minute. This was all we could handle on the piling end. When we were running a 16 tooth saw blade the blades were coming off with a burnt brown layer on them because we were under feeding the saw blade. After we changed to a 10 tooth blade the blades came off the machine much cleaner.
