bearing end play

Postby barry » Wed Jan 11, 2012 10:27 am

We have a Ukiah 12'' X 36 double arbor gang edger. the problem we are having is a lot of lumps in our saws lately where as before we would hardky have to lay a hammer to them. W have noticed that when a cant comes in to the machine as soon as it hits the bottom arbor the arbor cone on the door moves out towards the door a bout .080. Is it normal for this to happen? We have told the millwrights about this and they say its normal to have that much end play (we don't buy it) We are also wondering if there should be any end play on the press rolls? thanks for any help you can give us.
