Veneer lathe knives

Postby s schuster » Fri Jun 19, 2009 11:58 pm

Has anyone been having any luck with the "Chrome, special" alloy knives?
If there is even anyone here that is familiar with lathe knives, I haven't been here for a few years, moved to the company's veneer mill last year. and just lookin at what others have experienced.

okay just incase anyone wants to try them DON"T not worth it they are too brittle, when you hit a rock or something they tend to chip out on the back of the knife, twice as deep as the nick itself. :D

You might try Cryogenics, we have seen advantages in chipper knives.
